Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records. The division prepares financial and regulatory reports and maintains relationships with industry and firm regulators, serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team. Internship Programs This intensive 10-week program includes a Firmwide orientation to Morgan Stanleys businesses and division specific training. Your training will continue throughout the summer with structured learning sessions run by senior executives. Role and Responsibilities Summer Analysts will be placed into one of the following teams based on a mutual fit, taking into consideration your interest and skill set, business needs and management decision. Global Corporate Controllers & Planning (GCCP) is responsible for the financial and regulatory reporting of the consolidated Firm and its legal entities, accounting & regulatory policy and advisory, and managing the Finance risk and change programs. Institutional Securities Group Finance (ISGF) ensures accuracy of the business units books and records, provides management reporting and analytics to the business units management teams, including budgeting, forecasting and profitability. Corporate Treasury provides corporate finance advisory services to senior management and internal business units. It also optimizes the Firm's liquidity and capital base, manages the Firm's foreign exchange and interest rate exposure, and coordinates relationships with regulators, rating agencies, and creditors. Tax Department is responsible for global tax compliance (both corporate and indirect taxes), managing tax audits and relationships with global tax authorities, tax accounting, business unit trusted advisor on tax matters and tax planning for the Firm. As a Summer Analyst, you will: Work collaboratively in a high-performing team to ensure the integrity of Morgan Stanley's books and records Provide reporting and analysis to business units, senior management and regulators Continuously improve or enhance processes for increased control and/or efficiency Propose a process improvement or a solution to a business challenge Develop an understanding of finance terminology and divisional structure Qualifications and Skills You are pursuing an undergraduate Bachelors or Master's degree with a graduation date between October 2027 and July 2028. Morgan Stanleys Business Control Unit manages comprehensive risk for equity business, including non-market risk, regulatory compliance, counterparty risk, client documentation, and governance, advising internal and external clients on risk optimization and ensuring operational resilience and efficiency across the department. Internship Programs The Business Control Units Internship Programs begin with a one-day orientation, where Industrial Placement Analysts are introduced to the Firm, its core businesses, and their fellow interns through a firmwide networking event. Interns then participate in division-specific training designed to build the core skills required for a successful internship experience. Role and Responsibilities Non-Market Risk Team This role will cover Non-Market risk elements of the business, including operational, franchise and regulatory risk. Based within the Business Control Unit, the team works closely with Sales and Trading and partner functions to help ensure client interactions are aligned with internal standards.
