Water Meter Inspector (Temporary Full-Time)

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, reads water meters to facilitate customer billing; and identifies meter equipment problems.

Major Responsibilities

• Reads water meters on assigned routes and records readings into electronic hand‑held meter‑reading equipment.
• Obtains final readings for changes of ownership and tenant moves.
• Identifies health and safety concerns related to unsafe access to the meter.
• Detects and reports atypical conditions on meters and remote readouts.
• Responds to customer inquiries related to meter reading; directs billing inquiries to the appropriate Revenue Division staff and meter issues to the Meter Shop.
• Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Secondary school graduation.
