Technical Assistance Space Use Little Owl

The Swiss Ornithological Institute is a non-profit foundation for ornithology and bird conservation that combines basic research, applied research and practical implementation under one roof. More than 170 permanent employees and 60 temporary staff are involved in a wide range of tasks for the benefit of birds.

In the research project ‘Space use and dispersal ecology of little owls’ we investigate the key ecological factors that affect the fitness of individuals and the population dynamics in little owls. In particular, the effects of habitat characteristics on breeding success, survival rates and dispersal are being investigated by means of biologging and field experiments.
