Job Summary
The Smart Grid Engineer is responsible for assessing, developing and enhancing new and existing technologies used to support the efficient operations of Hydro Ottawa’s distribution grid. This includes evaluating and supporting the development of new technology, methodologies, and related business processes to enhance reliability, durability and flexibility of the grid, thereby maximizing the return on investment of distribution assets. The role involves leveraging relationships within Chief Information Technology and Chief Electricity Distribution divisions to execute projects, support grid technology section functions—including project management, planning, and budgeting—, assist in developing advanced utility applications and infrastructure, and influence the strategic direction of smart grid technology deployment.
