Specifically engineers who can design and operate backend systems end-to-end, not just implement features. Candidates should be comfortable making architecture decisions, modeling data, and handling tradeoffs around performance, scalability, and reliability. Experience building and evolving API-driven systems at scale is important. Engineers who have owned systems in production, debugging issues, and driving root cause fixes. Clear communication and the ability to partner with product and cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Ruby / Ruby on Rails (API-first development)
- PostgreSQL with strong query optimization experience
- Background job processing (Sidekiq or similar)
- RSpec and test-driven development
- AWS fundamentals (ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, etc.)
- Docker / containerized environments
- API design and best practices
