Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate is responsible for the receipt, handling and analysis of samples submitted for diagnostic genetic testing, involving the isolation of DNA, amplification of appropriate regions of the genome and subsequent sequence analysis of the amplified DNA region to evaluate the presence of genetic variants. The incumbent is expected to use personal judgement in the development of priorities for test performance and must be familiar with, and follow closely, laboratory protocols developed with reference to the laboratory’s accreditation with the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH). The incumbent will produce diagnostic test reports that will be reviewed and signed by the Principal Investigator.
