St. Michael's Hospital is one of only a few facilities in Ontario with expertise and leadership in providing specialized care in Trauma, Critical Care, Neurosurgery, Stroke, and Cardiac Care, amongst harm reduction supports for people who use drugs. We are amidst a large-scale renovation to create a Best-in-Class Emergency Department. Our new acute zone comprises 36 individual rooms, and our brand‑new trauma bay opened in January 2020. Safety and staff wellness are top priorities.

Responsibilities

The primary role of the RN is to provide holistic, evidence-based, culturally appropriate, patient‑centred quality care in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards and SMH's mission, vision, values and policies. The RN optimizes the patient's experience and care outcomes by:
