The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Ambulatory Surgical Care, the Cardiology Technologist evaluates and aids in the diagnosis of a patient’s cardiac status using stress testing, electrocardiograms, and Holter monitors. The Technologist directs the patient through a progressive walking protocol on a treadmill in which the patient’s heart rate, blood pressure and electrocardiogram are continuously recorded. The Cardiology Technologist is responsible for Holter Monitor, Kardia, and event recorder set up. The technologist must do a preliminary interpretation and save appropriate data to alert the physician to lethal arrhythmias when results indicate. The Cardiology Technologist is responsible for recording electrical activity of the heart through 12‑lead electrocardiograms for inpatients throughout the health centre and ambulatory cardiology clinics.
