Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Principal Fire Life Safety Engineer include the following:
- Manage building projects (with respect to fire life and safety) from concept design through to completion and handover.
- The application of codes and standards to FLS and loss prevention.
- Carry out risk assessments with respect to fire safety, fire egress points and travel distances, and work collaboratively to mitigate such risks.
- Review architectural drawings in terms of FLS requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, consultants and project teams.
- Knowledge of CFD smoke modelling, particularly in underground buildings.
- Develop performance-based fire engineering strategies.
Qualifications
- Ideally the candidate would have not less than 15 years experience in a fire life and safety.
