Power Systems Engineer – Transient Studies Specialist (Winnipeg)

Duties & Responsibilities

Perform EMT-based transient studies, including: Temporary Overvoltage (TOV) Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV) Switching Overvoltage (SOV) Lightning and surge analysis Develop and execute simulations using PSCAD (primary) and/or EMTP-RV. Evaluate insulation coordination and equipment duty under transient conditions. Develop and validate system models, including inverter-based resources (PV, BESS). Perform core power system studies: Power flow studies Harmonic analysis and mitigation assessment Prepare engineering documentation and structured technical reports. Translate study results into practical engineering recommendations (e.g., surge arrester selection, breaker ratings, insulation levels, harmonic filtering). Project Related Responsibilities
