Pharmacy Assistant

Overview

A Pharmacy Assistant supports pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in dispensing medications, managing inventory, and assisting customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications
• Provide customer service, including answering inquiries about over-the-counter (OTC) medications
• Process prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist
• Manage inventory by stocking shelves, checking expiration dates, and ordering supplies
• Handle cash register transactions and process payments
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy
• Follow pharmacy laws, regulations, and company policies

Education

High school diploma or equivalent (some employers may prefer certification in pharmacy assistance)

Experience

Prior experience in a pharmacy or retail setting is beneficial but not always required
