Main Objectives
The New Venture Support Specialist is responsible for guiding and facilitating the successful formation, development, and growth of spin‑out companies and start‑ups arising from Rhodes University’s intellectual property and research outputs. The role provides strategic advice on business models, financial planning, market positioning, and regulatory compliance, while connecting entrepreneurs with investors, mentors, and resources. Working closely with researchers, industry partners, and the Technology Transfer team, the Specialist ensures that new ventures are equipped to achieve commercial sustainability and contribute to innovation‑driven economic and societal impact.
