Responsibilities
- Assist the nursing department with training of restorative aides.
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, aides, and students in direct patient care and related activities, following the state practice act.
- Communicate patient progress, problems, and plans to supervisors and the health team.
- Participate in patient-care conferences, utilization-review meetings, and rehabilitation conferences as needed.
- Participate in the in-services training program for other staff.
- Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in maintenance program and caregiver training in preparation for discharge.
- Participate in discharge planning and recommend durable medical equipment to facilitate independence.
