Summary
The senior designer‑programmer programs PLCs, operator interfaces and/or SCADA systems according to the directives of the client and the project manager. Depending on their experience, they may be involved in designing logic, project documentation and training plans for the client.
Roles and responsibilities
- Selection of control equipment appropriate to the project needs
- Preparation of a control architecture and main parts lists
- Preparation of PLC input and output lists
- Preparation of equipment cost assessments, in collaboration with the project manager
- Programming of PLCs, operator interfaces and HMI
- Communication with other team members, both internal and external
- Program testing prior to commissioning at the customer's site
- Testing of control panels at the manufacturer's site
