Job Description
This role involves coding medical diagnoses, procedures and treatments using ICD standards for hospital statistics, insurance claims and research.
Responsibilities
- Review medical records: Read doctors’ notes, lab results, and treatment records carefully.
- Assign ICD codes: Translate diagnoses, procedures, and treatments into standard ICD codes.
- Ensure accuracy: Make sure codes match the patient’s medical record to avoid billing errors.
- Compliance check: Follow ICD guidelines, data privacy rules, and insurance requirements.
- Clarification and research: Contact doctors or staff if records are unclear.
- Reporting and analytics support: Provide coded data for hospital stats, insurance claims and research.
