Role and Facility Information
The Division of Geriatric Medicine consists of a team of 11 Geriatricians working across Vancouver Island serving a population of 750,000. In Campbell River, the new North Island Hospital is a state‑of‑the‑art facility with an elder‑friendly design to meet unique needs of seniors.
The Geriatric service provides clinical support to a robust service including in‑patient and out‑patient consultation and follow‑up. Physicians work with dedicated interdisciplinary teams in most areas, including a geriatric psychiatrist in Campbell River. There are no “on call” duties with attractive remuneration under a clinical service contract. The Division of Geriatrics is affiliated with the University of British Columbia Island Medical Program, and supports clinical teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate learners.
