Home Support Worker (Private Residence)

Goal & Purpose

The position involves providing some weekend support and respite starting with 12 hour shifts for a non-verbal 48-year-old smart and gentle man with autism in his own home. He is very intelligent, kind, sensitive and aware of people’s emotions. He is always a pleasure to be around and loves to be involved in the community. His behaviours are minimal and not aggressive.

Duties

• Drive and support him with volunteer work and various community activities (volunteering, swimming, library, coffee shops, hockey games, the park etc.)
• Prepare and cook his meals
• Light house duties
• Assist in all of his personal hygiene care
• Administering all medications and completing proper paperwork

• He likes to participate and make his own decisions as he is capable
• Making him feel important and getting him excited about things in his life
