Gwich’in Language and Culture Instructor

Teach Gwich’in language and culture at F.H. Collins Secondary in Whitehorse. This full-time position serves grades 8-12, starting August 20, 2026, through June 11, 2027.

As a key member of the teaching staff, you will help implement the Gwich’in Language & Culture program. Your responsibilities will include building relationships with students, teaching the language, and adapting curricula to ensure relevance and engagement. Collaboration with staff and community language professionals is also vital.

Key Responsibilities:
• Instruct grades 8-12 in the Gwich’in language
• Design a culturally relevant curriculum that meets student needs
• Engage with parents and the wider school community
• Lead initiatives to promote Gwich’in culture within the school
• Establish connections with Yukon language organizations
