Operation Wallacea is a network of academics from European and North American universities who design and implement long-term biodiversity and conservation management research programmes in countries worldwide.
We are currently recruiting a General Ecologist to lead surveys and deliver lectures at our South Africa terrestrial project in KwaZulu-Natal .
Dates: 15 June – 1 August
The role includes a period of on-site training prior to the arrival of student groups.
Role overview
This is a varied and hands‑on position, involving both fieldwork and teaching. Responsibilities will include:
- Co‑leading vegetation surveys
- Conducting bird point count surveys
- Supporting large game distance sampling surveys
- Overseeing data entry
- Delivering our lecture series to school groups and university students
