Role and Responsibilities
- Work on the Focus Ion Beam (FIB) for 12 hours shift, 9am to 9pm, 3 days work and 4 days rest in one week, alternate week pattern.
- Execute TEM lamella preparation using the FIB system on samples as and when required.
- Perform cross-sectioning and site-specific analysis using FIB and Energy-Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDX) to locate and expose defects or features of interest for samples.
- Review job requests and priorities left by the day-shift team, complete jobs in the queue to ensure a steady flow, and prepare a clear job list for the day shift.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, conduct basic alignments and optimizations (e.g., beam alignments, stigmation) to keep tools in peak condition.
- Identify and troubleshoot minor issues. Escalate major tool failures to the appropriate on-call support or management.
