The primary role of the Exercise Specialist is to deliver exercise assessment, training, rehabilitation, risk factor identification, and self‑management services to individual patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions. This position requires communication and planning with specific interdisciplinary services across a number of sites and sectors to effectively coordinate care. Reporting to the Program Manager at the Northern Alberta Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, the Exercise Specialist facilitates improvements within a multidisciplinary team using a patient/family‑centered model of practice. The Exercise Specialist delivers ongoing patient education (in the form of individual, small or large classroom settings) to patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals as part of the rehabilitation plan.
