Engineer II - Failure Analysis

Job Description

The Failure Analysis (FA) Engineer performs detailed electrical and physical failure analysis of all MCHP products using non‑destructive analytical tools, curve tracing, electrical ATE and bench characterization, defect/fault localization, sample preparation, destructive physical FA techniques, and material analysis. The role involves providing FA reports, updates, and timelines to customers and working with cross‑functional teams such as QA, CQE, Reliability, Apps, Design, Foundry, Test, Product Engineering, and wafer fab to resolve FA cases.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs detailed electrical and physical failure analysis for all MCHP products using non‑destructive analytical tools (X‑ray, SAM, optical microscopes), electrical bench verification tools, ATE data log interpretations, schematic interpretation, fault isolation techniques, deliding/delayering techniques, SEM/EDX analysis.
