Controls - Technical Development Specialist

Johnson Controls LLC is seeking an experienced Building Automation System (BAS) Estimation Engineer with a strong background in HVAC controls and building systems. The role is responsible for independently preparing accurate cost estimates, technical proposals, and scope definitions for BAS/DDC projects across commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors in Canada.

Responsibilities

Estimation & Costing

• Review architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications to prepare complete and accurate BAS estimates.
• Perform detailed material take‑offs for controllers, sensors, panels, network components, and cabling.
• Develop labour estimates for engineering, graphics/programming, installation, and commissioning.
• Prepare competitive cost estimates, including breakdowns for materials, labour, and subcontractors.
• Analyze and account for electrical installation scope within BAS projects.
