Overview
Under the direction of the foreperson and site superintendent, the Pipe Layer lays and joins concrete and plastic pipe for drains, sewers, and small utilities. The role ensures the ground is prepared and trenches are dug for pipes. The work requires manual labor and assistance to other positions on the project with hands-on tasks.
Responsibilities
- Align pipe in appropriate sections
- Grade trenches or culverts
- Shoot grade
- Maintain tools, chop saw, and equipment in good condition and according to safety standards
- Arrive on time to the job site with the appropriate gear
- Create lists of necessary tools, materials, and supplies needed to perform the work
- Participate in professional development courses and other training to strengthen knowledge and skills
