Responsibilities
- Operate woodworking machines such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers to cut, shape, and form parts and components
- Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces using hand tools such as planes, chisels, or wood files
- Study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made
- Operate CADD and other computer software systems
- Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete units and reinforce joints
- Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Instruct apprentices
Education
Registered Apprenticeship certificate or equivalent experience.
