Job description:
The Medical Underwriting Specialist plays a critical support role within the benefits team by assisting with the early stages of the medical underwriting process and providing administrative support to both the Benefit Plan Specialist and Strategic Benefit Specialist roles. This position is responsible for gathering, reviewing, and organizing information necessary for underwriting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance throughout the process.
Responsibilities
● Review new group submissions from the Sales team to ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate
● Run initial medical underwriting for new groups using designated underwriting tools and carrier platforms
● Identify missing information or discrepancies and coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently
● Prepare and transition completed underwriting files to the Benefit Plan Specialist for next-step plan analysis and recommendations
