Overview
School District No. 20 (Kootenay-Columbia) is seeking a 0.6 FTE District Elementary Counsellor for 2026–2027. Temporary position: September 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027. Posting date: July 7, 2026. Competition # 26-T-41.
Qualifications
- BC Certification with Bachelor of Education Degree
- Master's Degree in Counselling
- Experience in Cognitive-Theory-Based Counselling with an understanding of Trauma Informed Practice
- Previous successful experience in Counselling required
- Familiarity with Inter-ministerial social agency protocols
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working in a collaborative team setting
- Training in Suicide Risk Assessment and care plans
- Understanding of counselling supports through a Response to Intervention lens
