The 1st Watchkeeping Engineer on a dredger is responsible for monitoring and operating all engine room machinery during assigned watches. To ensure safe and efficient functioning of main engines, generators, pumps, and auxiliary systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining continuous watchkeeping as per company and maritime regulations.
- To promptly detect and respond to machinery alarms, faults, and abnormal conditions.
- To carry out routine inspections, readings, and performance monitoring of all equipment.
- To assist in preventive and corrective maintenance as directed by the Chief Engineer.
- To maintain proper logbooks, checklists, and engine room records.
- To ensure compliance with safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and environmental regulations.
